ASTM Environmental Site Assessments

When buying or selling property or preparing for a site development, a thorough environmental site assessment (ESA) and/or compliance audit is essential for uncovering potential financial and environmental liabilities. ELM has established a strong reputation for the accuracy, timeliness, and thoroughness of our reports. While many sites are found to be unaffected, when we do find signs of a problem we have the scientific expertise and engineering experience to assess the significance of that problem.

We completed a modified ESA (including the installation of temporary monitoring wells, groundwater sampling and lead-based paint and asbestos surveys) within three weeks from notice to proceed. The work was completed in accordance with ASTM 1527 and 1528 protocols. Our screening questionnaire and site checklist were adopted by our client and became the model for other consultants to follow. Additionally, we provided guidance for appropriate analytical methods for our client's 13-state service area.

Environmental Regulatory Facility Compliance Audits

Our environmental compliance audit assesses whether the facility operations currently conducted are in general compliance with various federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations and guidelines. The audit includes a review of environmental management practices and an evaluation of compliance with regulatory requirements. It determines the adequacy of training programs, both required and proactive, that are essential to the efficient communication of procedures necessary to fully meet regulatory compliance. Finally, the audit identifies existing and potential environmental risks associated with the use, storage and handling of petroleum and hazardous wastes and materials.
